Not Caitlin Clark, not Angel Reese! Draymond Green calls A’ja Wilson ‘best thing since sliced bread’ for WNBA
A'ja Wilson made WNBA history amidst the GOAT conversations in the league.
Draymond Green stated that A'ja Wilson is the greatest player in the WNBA.
After Angel Reese claimed that she’s also the reason behind the WNBA’s popularity this year, many debates have arisen about who the real star is. As many believe that the Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark is the new face of the league, Golden State Warriors, Draymond Green completely disagrees.
The WNBA’s viewership has taken on another level due to the incredible draft class of 2024. Some even believe that Clark is the best player in the league but that is not the case. On the Draymond Green show, the host reminded everyone that the Las Vegas Aces, A’ja Wilson is the greatest player in the WNBA.
The best thing since sliced bread in the WNBA is A'ja Wilson. I'm not necessarily in the mindset that it's all Caitlin Clark, no, A'ja Wilson is great. A'ja Wilson to me is the American dream. .Draymond Green on The Draymond Green Show
The four-time champion further explained the reason behind his statement. Wilson grew up in a two-parent household, who fought her way and worked hard to become the GOAT of the league. Green also believes that Wilson is the most marketable, but the WNBA needs to find a way to ‘market the product’.
Green is accurate as Wilson deserves more credit and attention as the star is almost unreachable when it comes to achievements. After winning the ROTY in 2018, the Aces star won the MVP award just after two years. The center also won the MVP and DPOY in the same season. There are many more titles to her name and she has done all of it at the mere age of 27.
Draymond Green believes A’ja Wilson will win her third championship this season
With her solo milestones, Wilson is also a back-to-back champion in the last couple of seasons. The star is now looking to three-peat as she is already getting the MVP buzz again. Green, a fan of the Aces Center, made a prediction on the team’s opening game itself.
The Aces defeated the Phoenix Mercury in their regular season opener with Wilson’s electric double-double performance. As Ernie Johnson mentioned the team could potentially do the three-peat, and Green confidently agreed.
They definitely will three-peat. They got the best player in the league, A’ja Wilson,” Draymond Green said.Draymond Green on Inside the NBA
Green might have been right as the team has been amazing this season especially Wilson. The reigning champions are 5-2 so far and Wilson is averaging double-doubles with 26.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. The star also had a record-breaking performance on Wednesday which has initiated the GOAT conversations again.
