Not due to COVID, but West Indies players spotted wearing masks during PAK vs WI ODI due to dust storm

In the final ODI of the three-match serie between Pakistan and West Indies in Multan Cricket Stadium today, dust storms interrupted the match. After 33 overs of the 1st innings, low visibility made the players from both the sides walk back.

This storm is not an uncommon phenomenon because Multan witnesses it due to the presence of sand dunes in the nearby places. Pakistan were batting at that time; were at 155/5 when the match was interrupted. After a short while, the play resumed and was reduced to 48 overs. West Indies players were seen wearing masks on the field to protect themselves from the dust storm.

Notably, Pakistan have already won the series by securing a 1-0 lead and the visitors will be looking towards denying their clean sweep in the last and final game. While Pakistan will look forward for a white-wash.

Meanwhile, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first. Opener Imam-ul-Haq played a knock of 62 runs while the rest of the top order failed to add much on the score-board.

Pakistan’s quick wicket dismissals’ credit goes to West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran who surprised the host team by picking four crucial wickets in his quota of 10 overs while conceding 48 runs. But Shadab Khan had played a much needed knock of 88 runs and steadied the innings with a brilliant knock lower down the order. In the 48th over, after slumping down to 117/5, Pakistan were able to recover to give a target of 269/9.
