So far this season, LaMelo Ball has been one of the best performers. He has been on a scoring tear, averaging 40.3 points in his previous four games. While Stephen Curry and Luka Doncic may still hold the top spot for point guards in the league, Ball is certainly making a case to be among the best.
LaMelo Ball joins exclusive company after hot start to season
LaMelo Ball’s blistering start to the season has solidified his position as one of the NBA’s brightest stars. Despite the Charlotte Hornets’ disappointing 6-12 record, he is rewriting the history books. The 22-year-old has joined an exclusive club of players averaging at least 30 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists in their fifth season.
The feat has only been accomplished by Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Luka Doncic since the NBA-ABA merger. In just 18 games this season, Ball has averaged 31.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 6.9 assists per game, showcasing his all-around brilliance.
While the Hornets continue to struggle in the standings, LaMelo Ball’s individual production has been nothing short of remarkable, certainly a silver lining for the franchise. His ability to dominate on the offensive end with a mix of flair and efficiency has made him must-watch television. His knack for creating shots has been pivotal for Charlotte’s offense.
However, to translate his historic start into wins, the Hornets will need a stronger collective effort to complement their young superstar. For now, LaMelo’s name sits among legends.
