Manchester United are undoubtedly one of the biggest clubs in the world. The Red Devils, however, have failed to live up to expectations recently, finishing at an all-time low of eight last season. However, the club has made significant changes to the squad, bringing in top players from across Europe to reinforce their line-up for the new season.
Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui headlined United’s acquisitions in the transfer market as they were brought in from Bayern Munich. Both players were purchased from the German giants in a deal worth £60 million ($76.6m) including add-ons.
Mazraoui is 26 years old and has signed a deal with United that will keep him at the club till 2028. Recently, the Moroccan made a statement that appears to be a slight dig at his former club Bayern Munich.
Internationally speaking, Manchester United is probably bigger than Bayern Munich.Noussair Mazraoui told the press
Mazraoui stated this was one of the main reasons for his move while also citing ‘being comfortable’ as one of his reasons. A few Bayern fans opined that Mazraoui was made to say so as part of a PR stunt. Others claimed that Bayern fans will now be waiting for him to make a mistake to criticize him on social media.

Manager Erik ten Hag has led his side to just two wins from their first five games in the Premier League. Ahead of their first game in the UEL, the Dutchman stated that his side will be looking to go deep in the competition.
It's an opportunity and one of the roads we want to go on. It's probably the most difficult because you have to be the best in a competition of 32.Erik ten Hag told the press
After a disappointing result against Crystal Palace on the weekend, the club will look to kick off their European campaign with an emphatic victory. The game will also hold special significance for Ten Hag as the 54-year-old played and managed FC Twente for a total of 23 years.
