Novak Djokovic beat Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets to set up the 2024 Wimbledon Final with Carlos Alcaraz. A rather exciting final for the mere fact that it is a rematch of last year’s thriller. Alcaraz had then pushed the match to five sets where he beat the unbeatable Djokovic in a Wimbledon Final.
That was the only slam that year that the Serbian ace did not win and would hope to make it up this time. This is also the first Alcaraz-Djokovic match of the year. Even though the Serbian is not in his best form, he is the finalist at Wimbledon and is in better shape than how he started.
Despite the knee injury, he made it on time for the SW19 and went through the rounds without much difficulty. Even though he revealed that his knee was not where he would like it to be, Djokovic was always ahead of all his opponents.
However, one opponent remains now in the tournament, the defending champion Alcaraz. Djokovic had high praise for him and predicted that he would go on to win many slams in the future, but hopefully not in two days.
He’s a great example of someone as a young player who has a well-balanced life. A good family… a lot of charisma… carries himself well on and off the court. He’s deservedly one of the greatest 21-year-olds we’ve ever seen in this sport. We’re gonna see a lot of him in the future, no doubt. He’s gonna win many more Grand Slams. Hopefully in 2 days, not this one.Novak Djokovic said in the on-court interview post his semi-final win
Fans have waited for this match for a long time, and Djokovic would hope to get his revenge. With no titles so far in the year, he would hope for a first one of the year and an 8th Wimbledon title this Sunday.
Novak Djokovic marches past Lorenzo Musetti to reach 37th Grand Slam final
Serbian great Novak Djokovic entered his 37th Grand Slam final after a commanding win over Lorenzo Musetti. The Italian lost the first two sets but showed a fierce fight to come back into the third set. He swung his racket more freely, without much doubt.
Unfortunately, it was not meant to be for him as Djokovic continued to stay dominant and win the match 6-4, 7-6, 6-4. He has never played Musetti at this stage and got another win over him. Now, Djokovic will play in the finals against Carlos Alcaraz.
They have played a couple of times before, and the Spaniard even has two wins over the Serbian. Last Wimbledon, they played the match of the year and have set a threshold for this year’s finals.
