Seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic has given an optimistic update about his availability for the grass Major. The third Grand Slam of the year is scheduled to start on Monday, July 1st, with the draws happening on Friday, June 28th.

After completing a two-hour practice session, the Serbian spoke to the BBC. He was seen practicing with Carlos Alcaraz, with whom he played in the final last year at the All-England Club.

I like my trajectory so far. It’s great to be back. The plan all along was to try to play Wimbledon so that's what I'm trying to do. That's why I came here earlier and to see how it goes. Many people think it's maybe not realistic or maybe not smart.

Djokovic was scheduled to arrive at Wimbledon today. However, he came earlier than planned, landing at the All-England Club on Sunday. He was seen practicing with a bandaged knee as he recovers from knee surgery following a torn meniscus sustained at Roland Garros.

The rehab has been going in the right direction every single day. I'm going to take it day by day and then make a decision based over the next four or five, six days and if I know that I can play close to my maximum or at maximum, then I'll play if not, then give somebody else a chance to play.

Alongside Djokovic’s doubts, another former Wimbledon champion whose participation at SW19 is uncertain is Andy Murray. The two-time champion of the tournament sustained a spinal injury during his match against Jordan Thompson at Queen’s Club. Initial reports confirmed the Scottish legend’s withdrawal, but these reports were later retracted.

Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic, along with other top tennis stars, have arrived at Wimbledon to prepare for the grass-court tournament. Alcaraz, last year’s champion, aims to win his second straight Grand Slam after his victory at Roland Garros. He is ranked No. 3 in the PIF ATP Rankings and was seen practicing hard under coach Samuel Lopez’s guidance.

The current Wimbledon champion began his grass-court season at the Cinch Championships in London but lost in the second round to Jack Draper, a rising British player. His record on grass courts is impressive, with 17 wins and 3 losses at the tour level.

Djokovic has been focusing on his recovery after knee surgery. He missed the Roland Garros quarter-finals due to a meniscus tear in his right knee. Last year, Alcaraz beat the Serb in a memorable Wimbledon final. The two, who have played each other five times (with Djokovic leading 3-2), met again at Wimbledon ahead of this year’s tournament.

This week, Djokovic moved up to No. 2 in the PIF ATP Rankings, overtaking Alcaraz after his early exit at Queen’s. Jannik Sinner is now World No. 1 and will be the top seed at a major tournament for the first time in his career.
