While Novak Djokovic is fighting hard to lift the historic 25th Grand Slam title, his son, Stefan Djokovic, too, is quite busy. Apart from cheering for his dad, Stefan is approaching players one after other from both ATP and WTA tours for their autographs.
One of Djokovic’s white hats is filled with autographs. Djokovic, after surviving a scare in the fourth round against Alex de Minaur, who he beat with scores of 1-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, was asked at the press conference if he’s helping Stefan get those autographs from his colleagues.
Most of them, he’s been independently approaching and asking for autographs. I think I might have asked only Jannik (Sinner) or someone. Everyone else he’s approached and he even got a chance to play with (Flavio) Cobolli my next opponent. They hit a few days ago. He’s over the moon. He loves tennis. He has everyone’s signature except mine. But that’s okay. I’ll accept that.
Cobolli is one of the two Italian players still alive in the tournament. The other player is World No.1 Sinner, who he could face if he beats Djokovic in the quarterfinals and later reaches the semifinal. Nole has met the World No.24 once, at the 2024 Shanghai Masters and won that match.

Before scheduling the clash with the 24-time Grand Slam champion, Cobolli knocked out 2014 US Open champion Marin Cilic in four sets. Cobolli has reached the Grand Slam quarterfinal for the first time in his career. He is the winner of two singles titles, both he lifted this year by beating Sebastian Baez and Andrey Rublev in the finals of the Bucharest Open and the Hamburg Open, respectively.
If Djokovic beats Cobolli and Sinner goes past Ben Shelton, then they will schedule a blockbuster semifinal clash. Sinner edges the 38-year-old 5-4 in the head-to-head encounter, having won their semifinal clash in this year’s French Open. It was Djokovic who ended Sinner’s run in the semifinals of the 2023 Wimbledon.
Alex de Minaur explains what makes Novak Djokovic a tough opponent on grass
At Wimbledon, Novak Djokovic has played all the finals since 2018, winning four consecutive titles (Wimbledon was not held in 2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic), before Carlos Alcaraz denied him another title in the tournament in 2023, ruining the Serb’s Calendar Slam dream. Last year as well, Alcaraz was the reason behind Djokovic’s defeat in the Wimbledon final.

Djokovic is one of the seven players to have eight grass-court titles under his belt. Seven of these trophies he lifted are at Wimbledon. Alex de Minaur, following his exit, explained why Djokovic plays great tennis on grass.
I would say it’s a combination of his serve and return. When needed, he elevated his serving level. I felt I was dominating the games easily, and there came a point where I had no chance with my second serves. He has it all in his game, but I would highlight his serve and return above everything else.
With this win, Djokovic improved his head-to-head record over the Australian ace to 3-1. He also denied the 26-year-old to go beyond the quarterfinal of a Major event.
Djokovic has not yet won a Major since the 2023 US Open. Before Wimbledon, Djokovic played in the semifinals of both the Australian Open and French Open. In Melbourne, he couldn’t complete the match against Alexander Zverev because of an injury. If the Belgrade native lifts his eighth Wimbledon, he will tie the title tally with 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer.
In the grass-court Major, Djokovic is also chasing his second title of the season after his Geneva Open win. He is also aiming to win his first Big Title since his victory at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
