Novak Djokovic has on several occasions revealed his preference for living alcohol-free in his effort to maintain his high professional standards. However, in a recent viral clip on social media, the Serbian was seen drinking what appears to be champagne as he celebrated his Olympic gold medal victory.

Despite dominating men’s tennis in recent years, Djokovic has sought the elusive Olympic gold medal on four occasions but always fell short at the end. He finally claimed the gold medal after beating Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz in a thrilling singles final at the Paris Games.

The 37-year-old drinking alcohol is a clear deviation from his well-known stance of maintaining an alcohol-free lifestyle. In an interview with VICE in 2019, he claimed he hadn’t drunk for years.

I haven't been drinking for years. I sometimes did and as an athlete who rarely drinks, which is well known, one drink will throw me into the machine and I don't know where I am.
Novak Djokovic had said.

Having finally achieved his Golden Slam (winning all four Grand Slam titles and Olympic gold), it seems Djokovic has been making up for lost time. His fans will hope for him to be back on the court to defend the US Open title, which gets underway on August 26.

Novak Djokovic admits he doesn’t want to consider what the future holds after withdrawing Cincinnati Open

Having achieved every in tennis, Djokovic has admitted he only has time for celebration and doesn’t know what the future holds for him.

This sport has given me everything in life, and now I'm just trying to give back with the dedication and sacrifice I put on the court when no one is watching. I don't know what the future holds. I've worked hard and sacrificed a lot to get here. Now it's time to celebrate, time to enjoy,
Novak Djokovic said via MARCA.

Without competing at the Cincinnati Open, which he has won three times, Djokovic will face the daunting task of transitioning from the Olympics to the US Open without playing any professional match. The change in surface (clay to hard) will also be a crucial factor.
