Novak Djokovic was welcomed by a huge crowd of supporters upon his return to Belgrade. He won the gold medal for his country at the Paris Olympics and received a hero’s welcome in Serbia’s capital city.

Since winning the Olympic bronze in 2008, Djokovic has been desperate to win the gold. After failing multiple times, he managed to get his hands on it in Paris this month. Despite not being in his best form, Djokovic played some of his best tennis to come out on top.

In the final, he took down Carlos Alcaraz 7-6(3),7-6(2) to win gold for his country, leading to big celebrations in Serbia. He was even honored by the country’s President Aleksandar Vucic. Over the last week, there have been multiple posts on social media of Djokovic celebrating the win.

In his latest TikTok, the 37-year-old captured the atmosphere in Belgrade as thousands of fans flooded the streets. The crowd sang songs with Djokovic, who was as excited as the fans to be a part of the celebrations.

Novak Djokovic‘s Olympic gold is held in high regard in his country. It was a maiden gold for Serbia in tennis and despite being one of the best in the game, he needed five appearances at the Games to win it.

After the win, he was warmly welcomed by Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic, who embraced the 24-time Major winner before shaking hands with him. Furthermore, the President also announced plans to build a museum to honor and celebrate Djokovic.
