Novak Djokovic‘s career is exemplary for a variety of reasons. Right from the start of his career to his peak how he has managed his fitness to maintain dominance even at the age of 36 is astonishing. This has required him to undergo various changes to his training, gameplay, and even diet.
One of the areas a young Djokovic lacked was the serve but he made sure to improve it tremendously. With the addition of Goran Ivanisevic to his coaching setup, Nole’s service game slowly became one of the best in business. The best testimony to this statement came at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships.
Djokovic was up against local lad and wildcard entrant Jack Draper in the first round of the Championships. The Briton sent shockwaves around the All-England Club when he clinched the first set against the Serb who was then a five-time Wimbledon singles winner.
Although Nole recovered well to win the match in the next three sets, it was still a remarkable performance from a young Draper. But the highlight of the match remained the top seed’s service game, especially the one while he was serving for the third set.
In a mere 46 seconds, Djokovic fired four consecutive aces to win the game and the set. All of the aces were hit down the center as Draper watched them sail past helplessly. The 46-second game quickly became a topic of discussion as all four aces were over 100 mph and hit their intended spots accurately.
The video has now gone viral once again sending the Nolefam down memory lane. The top seed displayed incredible composure with laser-focused, accurate, and rapid shots, showing no reactions—a cold and clinical performance.
Fans are still in awe of the epic gameplay of Novak Djokovic at the 2021 Wimbledon
Nole was playing as the two-time defending champion and then owned 19-time singles Grand Slam titles. With shots and performances like these, his odds increased with every passing match as he remained on the hunt for his 20th career Major.
Netizens however had a field day after re-watching the brilliance of the Serb. They took to their social media handles to shower praise on the Serb.
With arch-rivals Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer already at the 20-Major mark, Djokovic was favorite at the Wimbledon that year to win it. It also had to do with the fact that he had won both the Australian Open and the French Open that year.
He didn’t drop another set till the finals against Matteo Berrettini. The Italian won the first set tiebreaker to draw the first blood. But Djokovic kept his calm to secure the title and match his rivals at 20 Majors each.
