Novak Djokovic has hailed Rafael Nadal as his greatest rival ever. The Serbian had secured his spot in the second round at the 2024 Paris Olympics and awaited Nadal to join him there to give the fans the match they were looking forward to.
However, Nadal’s participation in the singles was in doubt due to a discomfort in his thigh. The Spaniard managed to step onto the court against Marton Fucsovics for his opening-round match.
Nadal, who has not been at his best recently, managed to beat Fucsovics 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 to set up a blockbuster clash with the Serbian. Djokovic stated that despite the Spaniard’s current form and ranking, he will always remain a dangerous opponent and even called him his greatest rival to date.
I can’t take anybody else but Nadal as my biggest rival. As long as Nadal is playing, as long as I’m playing, Nadal is always my biggest rival regardless of the rankings or what’s going on the tour.Novak Djokovic said (via Tennis TV)

Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal to lock horns for a 60th time
All eyes were on the top half of the 2024 Paris Olympics draw as Novak Djokovic had a chance to meet Rafael Nadal very early in the tournament. Both the players had to win their first-round matches to face off against each other.
Without any difficulties, Djokovic secured his place while Nadal worked hard before selling his spot in the second round. They are set to face each other for the 60th time in their careers, with the Serbian leading 30-29 in the head-to-head.
Moreover, this match will be special for both players. Back in Paris in 2006, they locked horns for the first time and Nadal went on to win that match. 14 years later they are set to face off in what could be their last career meeting.
