After facing some medical issues in the first round, Novak Djokovic cruised past his second round with a straight set victory over Great Britain’s Dan Evans. Djokovic served precisely throughout the match, conceding just nine points on serve, and dealt with Evans’ trademark slice backhand with poise to secure the win in one hour and 47 minutes .
By defeating Evans on Centre Court, the Serb surpassed Roger Federer for the most men’s singles third-round appearances (19) at Wimbledon in the Open Era. When asked about his feat, the 38-year-old said that he doesn’t fully reflect on moments from his career. However, he added at the post-match interview that it’s something he is planning to do once he hangs up his racquets:
I don’t reflect fully on everything I’ve been through. I’d like to but I think that’s going to come when I set the racquet aside and sip margaritas on the beach with Federer and Nadal and just reflect on our rivalry and everything.
Djokovic is the only member of the Big 3 remaining, the trio which redefined greatness in tennis and dominated the game for the tour two decades. Djokovic doesn’t seem to seek retirement anytime soon as the pursuit for the 25th Grand Slam is quite strong and he has often spoken about wanting to make it to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

At the Wimbledon Championships, Djokovic will be aiming to tally Federer’s record of 8 titles. He is also just one win away from 100 match wins at SW19, a milestone he crossed at the Roland Garros this year, marking his first Grand Slam with 100 match wins.
Novak Djokovic serves 50th bagel at the Grand Slam level; to meet Miomir Kecmanovic in the third round
Novak Djokovic‘s second round Wimbledon win, also witnessed another milestone for the Serb. As he sealed the victory with a scoreline of 6-3, 6-2, 6-0, it marked his 50th bagel at the Grand Slam level, tallying Andre Agassi‘s record in the Open Era.

After overcoming Alexandre Muller in the opening round, and Dan Evans in the second, Novak Djokovic will next meet compatriot Miomir Kecmanovic in the third round at Wimbledon. Djokovic leads the head-to-head record 3-0 over Kecmanovic, with one win on grass.
Kecmanovic defeated 30th seed Alex Michelsen in the opening round, and Jesper De Jong in the second to reach the third round. The winner of the third round match will meet either August Holmgren or Alex de Minaur in the fourth round.

Djokovic is one of the five men in the top-ten seed who have made it to the third round amidst a massive series of early upsets at Wimbledon. Alexander Zverev, Holger Rune, Daniil Medvedev and 2024 semifinalist Lorenzo Musetti were stunned in the opening round, while home favorite Jack Draper faced a second round exit.
Akin to Roland Garros, Djokovic could potentially meet Jannik Sinner in the semifinal, and much like the previous two editions, Carlos Alcaraz awaits him in the finals. Djokovic had reached the finals of Wimbledon in its last six editions, losing only in the last two years to Alcaraz.
