Roger Federer hasn’t yet congratulated Novak Djokovic for his first Olympic gold medal and this gave the Serb’s fans a chance to criticize the Swiss maestro. Djokovic, in the final on Court Philippe-Chatrier, defeated Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz 7-6(3), 7-6(2) to win his second medal in the Olympics.
Djokovic previously won the bronze in the 2008 Beijing Games. He advanced to the Olympic final for the first time, while the gold medal was also his first title of the season.
Congratulations and showers of praise poured in from all corners for Djokovic for completing the career Golden Slam on his fifth attempt. His biggest rivals took to their respective social media handles to laud him for achieving another milestone in his remarkable career.
Federer, who retired in September 2022, has kept mum so far. Nowhere on his social media handles, even on his latest post, has he mentioned Djokovic for his recent triumph.
Federer has not been able to accomplish the hardest task of winning all four Grand Slam trophies and the Olympic gold medal in singles, a feat Djokovic, along with Rafael Nadal, and Andre Agassi were able to achieve in men’s tennis. The list also includes two female former players, Steffi Graf and Serena Williams. The 42-year-old, however, clinched a gold medal in doubles at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, while in singles, he bagged the silver in the London Games.
Novak Djokovic fans slam Roger Federer for not posting anything about the Serb’s Olympic gold
As it’s already known in the tennis fraternity that the Big 3 have fans who indulge in debates about who among Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic, is the GOAT (Greatest of All Time), Federer’s silence on Djokovic’s gold medal win prompted the latter’s fans to brutally slam the 20-time Grand Slam champion, with some saying Federer is finally showing his ‘true colors’. While Federer fans said Federer doesn’t have to congratulate Djokovic on social media.

Stop this nonsense. Everyone knows Djokovic has won more titles than Federer. Even head to head djokovic surpasses him so what is this noise for

Djokovic and Federer have locked horns with each other 50 times, with the former leading their head-to-head meetings 27-23. They last clashed at the 2020 Australian Open semifinal, which the Serb won in straight sets.
Though Federer retired after claiming 20 major titles, Djokovic has no plans to say farewell to the game. He has even expressed his wish to play at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. He will also enter the US Open as the defending champion, winning the title there four times.
