Novak Djokovic recently gave a major update about his Wimbledon participation, which is somewhat a piece of happy news for his fans. With the 2024 Wimbledon about to commence, almost all players but Djokovic have confirmed their participation this year.
At the French Open, the Serbian suffered a nasty fall that hurt his right knee, forcing him to withdraw from the quarter-final match against Casper Ruud. It was a tear in his right meniscus and Nole had immediately opted for surgery in Paris. After a successful surgery, he started his quick rehab and was able to walk the week after the injury.
With only a few days left before the next Grand Slam, there were many doubts about Djokovic’s participation at Wimbledon. However, Djokovic once again did not fail his fans and suddenly flew to London to practice and assess his knee before making a final decision.
Recently, he flew to Munich to watch Serbia take on Denmark in the UEFA Euro 2024. In an interview there, the Serbian gave an update about his health and Wimbledon participation. He revealed that the recovery was going well and that he would decide on his participation in the next few days.
I haven't decided yet if I will play Wimbledon. I will decide in the next few days. Thank goodness the recovery is going surprisingly well. After Wimbledon, there will be the Paris Olympic Games, which I am looking forward to.Novak Djokovic said on RTS via Munich.
He has been training hard with other players from the circuit, and even after a small break to watch the football game live, the Serbian hits Wimbledon courts again to decide on his participation.
Patrick McEnroe believes that Novak Djokovic’s injury may be the inspiration he lacked all year
Novak Djokovic has not been in the best of forms all year, which is reflected in his tournament runs so far. Tennis legend Patrick McEnroe reckons that the injury might be the inspiration he lacked all year.
Maybe this is what he needs to inspire him. He’s looked a little uninspired throughout most of this year, certainly in between Australia and the French Open where he suffered that injury.
Patrick McEnroe said via Forbes.
Last year, Djokovic lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final. If Djokovic decides to play at Wimbledon, all eyes will be on him and his knee as he not only has to compete for the title in the most prestigious tennis tournament but must remain unscathed for the upcoming Paris Olympics.
