Djokovic’s future has been uncertain since he won the Olympic singles gold medal in Paris. However, he has dismissed retirement rumors and has not ruled out participating in the 2028 LA Olympics. In the short term, the Shanghai Masters is the only tournament he will officially enter in the latest tournaments. Djokovic is a four-time champion at this event and last competed in 2019, losing to Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinals.

Djokovic has also confirmed that he will not return to the Belgrade Open, which surprised many given his strong ties to Serbia. Additionally, he has another exhibition match in Buenos Aires with Juan Martin Del Potro scheduled for the remainder of his 2024 calendar.
