Novak Djokovic wins 60th match against Rafael Nadal in dominating fashion
It had been a while since the tennis world saw Novak Djokovic play with as much passion as he had on Monday (July 29) against Rafael Nadal. It was their ‘last dance’ and Djokovic was out to impress.
It was a mostly straightforward straight-set victory for the Serbian, who extended his head-to-head lead against Nadal to 31-29. In his 117 matches at Roland Garros, Nadal has lost just five times, with three of those defeats coming against Djokovic.
Additionally, Djokovic has become the first player to win 15 men’s singles matches at the Olympics since tennis returned to the event at the 1988 Seoul Games. The draw will only get harder for the No.1 seed, who will take on the winner of Dominik Koepfer and Matteo Arnaldi.
