Novak Djokovic has made some crucial observations about his fourth-round opponent Holger Rune ahead of their Wimbledon clash. Two two are set to face each other for a spot in the quarterfinals.

The Serbian entered Wimbledon with doubts about his form as he was just returning from knee surgery. However, he has moved freely in the first couple of matches and is slowly finding his form while reaching the fourth round at SW19.

Ahead of the clash with familiar foe Rune, Djokovic said that he has kept tabs on the Dane and revealed a few of his observations.

All surfaces. He’s probably lacking a bit more consistency with his results comparing to Alcaraz and Sinner, which are his generation. But he looks to me like a player who’s ready for big things.

Novak Djokovic said at a press conference

Holger Rune is one of the few next-generation players to have beaten Djokovic on the big stage. He and Carlos Alcaraz have both won twice against him. But unlike the Spaniard, Rune has never beaten the Serbian at a Grand Slam.

The Serbian name-checked Rune’s service and forehand as two areas where he has improved a lot.

He’s been working very hard. His serve is a big weapon now. Maybe it wasn’t so much in the past. Serve and forehand.. his backhand is as solid as anybody’s.. With the return as well

Novak Djokovic said

Djokovic leads Rune 3-2 in the head-to-head. Of their five meeting, only one has come at a Grand Slam, at the US Open in 2021.
