World No.1, Novak Djokovic is currently getting ready for his home tournament in Belgrade. After early elimination at the recently concluded, Monte Carlo Masters, the 18-time Major winner is keen on winning the Serbia Open this week.
Ahead of his first match, Djokovic spoke about how the next generation of players can win big titles on the tour and may be, even replace the Big-3 in time to come.
“So I think it’s a positive thing for our sport to actually have new champions, new faces that are going to be recognized by tennis fans around the world. I don’t mind seeing new winners; I would like to be on the winning side myself everywhere I play, but you know things are different,” said Djokovic.
New Champions will emerge soon and get recognized says Djokovic
“(These are) Guys that are challenging the best players in the world. Maybe we have to accept the fact that we will not be in the top rankings of the world soon and some other guys will replace us there, which is a normal cycle of life.”
“I myself have been experiencing these kinds of expectations, the pressure of being a top ATP player for quite some time, along with Rafa and Roger,” he added.
Djokovic is the overwhelming favourite to win the title and will take on Soonwoo Kwon or Roberto Baena on Wednesday.
