Toni Nadal on Novak djokovic
Novak Djokovic, has finally ticked off one goal off his list after he surpassed Roger Federer’s record of most weeks at the top of the ATP Rankings.
In the ranking update as of 8th March, Novak Djokovic started his 311st week as world number one, overtaking Federer’s tally of 310 weeks. The Serbian has now claimed his long-sought dream of his historic world number one ranking and can finally focus his attention towards other goals. He recently spoke about Rafael Nadal’s long time coach and Uncle, Toni Nadal coaching FAA.
Toni Nadal – uncle and former coach of 20-time major winner Rafael Nadal – started working with 20-year-old Felix Auger-Aliassime ahead of this week’s Monte Carlo Masters.
‘I was not very surprised,’ Novak Djokovic on Toni coaching FAA
Novak Djokovic said that it would be hard to see his coach Marian Vajda coaching someone else while he’s playing. He added that Toni and FAA will make a great team.
“It’s hard for me to imagine Marjan coaching someone else at this moment while I’m still playing,” he said.
“But, Rafa and Tony have not traveled together and have not cooperated for some time, Tony probably needed a challenge. Personally, I was not very surprised by that.”
“I know that Felix has spent a lot of time in the past few years at Rafa’s academy, he trained there, Tony was also his mentor. Tony is probably excited about researching a new project, a new adventure on a tour with one of the best young tennis players in the world at the moment.
Auger-Aliassime will play Cristian Garin in the opening round of the Monte Carlo Masters while Novak Djokovic has been handed a bye.
