Novak Djokovic was reportedly awarded 200,000 euros by the Government of Serbia for his gold medal at the Paris Olympics. According to reports, he donated the entire sum to humanitarian causes.
The 37-year-old entered the Olympics desperate to win a medal for his country. All year, Djokovic preached about the Games and held it as his main priority. However, along the way, he picked up a knee injury at the French Open, which posed a threat to his Olympic run.
Despite that, Djokovic made a quick return and has since made it to two finals. At Wimbledon, Djokovic lost to Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets but did not get disappointed after the loss as he got his revenge at the Olympics.
Even at the Games, Djokovic was cruising smoothly through the rounds, when he felt a pain in his knee in the quarterfinal match against Stefanos Tsitsipas. However, with little rest, he returned the next day to take down Lorenzi Musetti and book a final clash with Alcaraz. For the first time all year, Nole played lights-out tennis to down Alcaraz 7-6(3),7-6(2).

With that win, he won a long-due gold medal for his country. This was Serbia’s second medal in the Paris Games and Djokovic was awarded 200,000 euros ($218,293) for it. As reported by B92, he will donate all the prize money to various charitable organizations.
Novak Djokovic raised $93,900 earlier this year to build a kindergarten in a remote Serbian village
Novak Djokovic and his wife Jelena Djokovic have a foundation together called ‘The Novak Djokovic Foundation’. As a person who faced financial problems in his growing years, he often donates to various charities to give back.
In February 2024, Djokovic’s foundation raised approximately $93,900 to build a kindergarten in a remote Serbian village. The foundation has helped around 54,800 children and continues its efforts to support more.
This isn’t the first time Djokovic has made significant donations. He has frequently helped communities in need, including making various charitable contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic and supporting flood relief efforts. On one occasion, Djokovic even donated his entire tournament earnings to flood relief in Serbia.
