“We brought back good old times,” Novak Djokovic practices with Andy Murray ahead of Rome Masters 2021

Novak Djokovic, top seed at Rome Masters will open his campaign against the American, Taylor Fritz in the second round. The Serbian returns to action after he was defeated in the semifinals of Belgrade 1 Open. Djokovic is the defending champion in Rome, after he lifted the title last year, after defeating Diego Schwartzman in the finals in straight sets.
Novak Djokovic recently trained with Andy Murray prior to the Italian Open 2021. The duo have given us several memorable matches over the past years. However, Murray has struggled with a hip issue, ever since 2017. The three time Grandslam champion is determined to reach the top of tennis once again.
Novak Djokovic shares his experience of training with Andy Murray
Novak Djokovic revealed that he had a great practice session with Andy Murray, and stated that the Briton moved well on court. Clay courts are considered to be toughest of all, and as a result, Djokovic was impressed with Murray’s movement in the practice session.
“It was great to hit with Andy. He hit well and he moved well, considering that clay is not the best surface for his hips. He is feeling good on the court, he says so as well, we chatted and it brought back good old times,” said Djokovic.
Both, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic have won titles in Rome. The Serbian has lifted the title on five occasions, whereas, Andy Murray has only lifted the title once in 2016, when he defeated Novak Djokovic in the finals. 2016 was an incredible season for Andy Murray. The Briton won the Wimbledon Championships, Olympic Gold and the Nitto ATP Finals in London.
