Novak Djokovic criticized his sponsor, Lacoste, for not doing its job when it comes to his marketing promotions. Ahead of his quarterfinal clash with Australia’s Alex de Minaur, Djokovic expressed his hope to see an increase in products from his line and their availability.

He is unhappy that there are not enough products available in stores for his fans from all over the world. And even though one can buy them online, Lacoste is not able to meet the demands and the Serb also feels going to stores feels different than buying them online.

I’m not happy with the way my sponsor does my marketing promotion, I’m frustrated. In recent years I’ve had dissatisfaction and frustration because many people looking for my products don’t have the possibility to find them in my sponsor’s stores. Some things are changing for the better now, but I am still not satisfied, because everything could be better.

Djokovic’s angry rant against the brand he joined in 2017 as its brand ambassador came after he criticized the Wimbledon crowd for their ‘disrespectful’ behavior during his fourth-round match against Denmark’s Holger Rune. Though Djokovic dominated throughout the match and won with scores of 6-3, 6-4, 6-2, he was left unhappy that a section of the Centre Court crowd was booing him while chanting Rune’s name

Lacoste apologized after accidentally releasing products to celebrate Novak Djokovic’s 25th Grand Slam title

Novak Djokovic sits on top with most Grand Slam titles in the history of men’s tennis, winning 24 of them. But Lacoste, before the start of this year’s Wimbledon, released a limited edition tracksuit worth $350 to celebrate Djokovic’s 25th major title he is yet to win.

Lacoste did so even before Djokovic’s confirmation of his Wimbledon participation. Instead of a grand success, the move backfired and Lacoste CEO Thierry Guibert had to apologize when he learned about the mistake.

I have to apologize about that. It was a mistake on our side due to IT issues.

Djokovic joined Lacoste after splitting with kit sponsor Uniqlo. The contract with the French brand runs till 2025.

Coming back to his Wimbledon run, he played a four-setter twice, against Jacob Fearnley and Alexei Popyrin. The seven-time Wimbledon champion’s next opponent, Alex de Minaur, knocked out Frenchman Arthur Fils to set up the clash with the Serb in his first-ever Wimbledon quarterfinal.
