The French Open could not have gotten off to a better start as ‘King Of Clay’ Rafael Nadal took on Alexander Zverev in the first round. There were many speculations that it would be Rafa’s last match at Roland Garros. Many fans, and even a few players, came in to witness the Spaniard in action.
Among the ones present were Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Iga Swiatek, and Caroline Garcia—a tremendous moment in the world of tennis for some of the top stars to watch Nadal play. Djokovic still had to play his first-round match and when he did, the first question asked to him was about the experience of watching Nadal play.
The Serbian had only been praised for Nadal’s performance in the match. He felt that it was heaps better than Rome and Barcelona, but he was there to witness the Spaniard play for a possible last time.
It was great. I saw, you know, Iga was there, Alcaraz was there, and we all wanted to get a glimpse of the atmosphere, of that possibly unique moment, you know, that could be his last. But it doesn't appear like that.said Novak Djokovic via. Roland Garros Press

Although, there is no certainty behind Nadal’s return and the fans hope to watch almost every match of the Spaniard before he decides to hang up the racket. Nadal is now targeting the Paris Olympics, but it’s a bonus if he plays any other tournament in between.
Novak Djokovic got off to a flying start with a dominant first-round victory at the French Open
World No.1 Novak Djokovic had all eyes on him as he entered the French Open. He was pressured to perform with no titles so far in the year. After a semi-final run at Geneva, the Serbian quickly flew to Paris, preparing for his first-round match against Pierre-Hugues Herbert.
He soon caught pace after a rather slow start and took the first set in no time. However, his opponent showed signs of grit and pushed the second set to the tie-break but could not get a set off Djokovic, who won the match in straight 6-4, 7-6(3), 6-4.
Now, the Serbian moves to the second round to face a homeboy, Roberto Carballes Baena. A good start for the Serbian who has been struggling in previous tournaments.
