Novak Djokovic has expressed his wish to play professional tennis with his son, Stefan Djokovic, during his interview with Piers Morgan. Djokovic said he thinks his son seemed to have chosen to play tennis.

And obviously, Djokovic the dad is ever ready to help him in whatever way. Basketball LeBron James has fulfilled his dream of playing alongside his son, Bronny James. And Morgan, who has also interviewed footballing great Cristiano Ronaldo, thinks the Al Nassr player wants to follow in the footsteps of James. For Djokovic, seeing his son become a professional tennis player is also a dream.

I think he’s got some good genes in him…. He’s good. But I want to be his father. I don’t want to be his coach…I would not mind with all the comparisons that would come his way… I am slowly trying to introduce the world of tennis and sports and all of these things to him, and I can’t throw everything at him at once, you know. I’m picking and choosing the right moments. If this is the journey that he chooses to have, I’m going to be one million percent behind him, supporting him every step of the way in whatever shape or form.

When Morgan asked Djokovic whether he would let Stefan win if the latter becomes a professional player, the 38-year-old joked he would never let him. He said, “Of course, I wouldn’t let him beat me. I would kick his a**.

Djokovic was last seen in action in the first edition of the Hellenic Championship, which he ended in his favor by defeating Lorenzo Musetti. It was his second title of the season as well as his 101st of his career. Apart from the Athens event, Djokovic won the Geneva Open by beating Hubert Hurkacz and also played the Miami Open final, losing the match to Jakub Mensik.

Jack Sock defends Novak Djokovic amidst criticism due to late ATP Finals withdrawal

Novak Djokovic drew a lot of criticism because of his last-minute withdrawal from the ATP Finals. Lorenzo Musetti would’ve already qualified without playing the ATP 250 event in Athens had Djokovic announced the same. Amidst the backlash, former player Jack Sock defended the Serb’s decision.

I think if they want to see a different outcome for that or a different product for the year-end finals, they probably shouldn’t have a tournament the week before that guys can still qualify for, guys are still battling for those points, you can still get injured for if you’re already in the finals, whatever the case may be. No fault to Novak, no fault to anyone in that position. He wanted to play that tournament like you said, he owns that tournament, he lives there.

Jack Sock said during the Nothing Major podcast

Musetti made his debut in the season-ending championship against Taylor Fritz, only to lose the match in straight sets. He then eked out a three-set win against Alex de Minaur to avoid the possibility of elimination.

But his next challenge is nothing but tough. The Italian will be up against six-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz, against whom he trails 1-6 in the head-to-head matchups. The Spaniard, who is also chasing his first title at the ATP Finals, secured wins against Fritz and de Minaur in his previous two round robin matches.

Musetti hasn’t yet won a title since the 2023 Napoli Open, losing six finals since then. This year, the 2024 Paris Olympics bronze medalist lost the Monte Carlo Masters final to Alcaraz, the Ningbo Open to Alejandro Tabilo, and the Hellenic Championship to Djokovic.
