Novak Djokovic made his country happy when he announced that he would be playing at the Paris Olympics, a few weeks after undergoing a knee surgery that almost ruled him out of the competition. The Serbian is aiming to be fully fit for the Games but has decided to apply caution by not participating in the men’s doubles.
The 37-year-old tore his medial meniscus after slipping several times against Francisco Cerundolo in the fourth round of the French Open. He underwent surgery in Paris a few weeks ago and flew to Serbia for further rehabilitation. Nole looks to be having a successful rehabilitation as he posted an update concerning his recovery.

He was seen paddling in the gym and doing another exercise. Djokovic followed it up recently as he was seen running on grass, which kept fans wondering whether he will be fit for Wimbledon. Despite no official report on playing at Wimbledon, the Serbian Olympic Committee has already announced his inclusion in the tennis team for the Summer Games.
However, as he aims to compete in the tennis competition of the Olympics, he is focused on the men’s single only. The Serbian is aiming to take necessary caution, especially knowing fully well that the tennis competition of the Olympics will be played at the Roland Garros court. Previous times he has played at the doubles, but it has never favored him.

Although he always played in doubles at the previous editions, Djokovic only registered for singles in Paris. ?https://t.co/oQaGNf49MM
In 2008 and 2016, he partnered with Nenad Zimonjic but they were eliminated in the first and second rounds, respectively. In London 2012, he partnered with Viktor Troicki but was eliminated in the first round. He played both the doubles and mixed doubles, losing in the first round of the doubles and failing to play the third-place match due to exhaustion with his partner Nina Stojanovic.
Paul McNamee reveals that Novak Djokovic playing at Wimbledon will favor him more than the Olympics
Australian Doubles Grand Slam Champion Paul McNamee has given his opinion on what will work best for Djokovic. He advises that playing at Wimbledon ought to be Novak Djokovic’s priority over the Olympics.
The Serbian had dropped to No.3 after withdrawing from the French Open but will head to Wimbledon as No.2 after Carlos Alcaraz failed to defend his Queen’s Championship title. The Spaniard was supposed to win 500 points but earned only 5 points, having won one match in the tournament.

Novak Djokovic, if he plays, will now be seeded 2 at Wimbledon. The chat is that the Olympics is his priority, which given his patriotic fervour, is admirable. However, the reality is if reasonably in shape he would have a better chance at Wimbledon than the Olympics…just saying.Paul McNamee wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Wimbledon has been a favorable home for Djokovic, having won the tournament seven times in his career. He will be hoping to play if he is fit and equal Roger Federer‘s title record at the Championships.
