Novak Djokovic won his maiden gold medal in the Olympics in Paris after a thrilling final against Spain’s star youngster Carlos Alcaraz. As the gold medal eluded him in his previous four Olympic campaigns, it became more precious when he finally wore it and stood on top of the podium.
Djokovic even went on to claim that winning the medal was his biggest achievement of his career. The title also made him the only third and overall fifth player to complete the Career Golden Slam. In another interview, Djokovic talked about the emotions he dealt with after his win.
The Olympic Games are so precious. I wanted that gold. I knew that the whole country was standing by my side, and the emotions that I experienced that day were the best set of emotions I've ever experienced!Novak Djokovic told SrpskiSport

The medal in Paris was also Djokovic’s first win of the season as he is still trophyless on the ATP Tour. Djokovic recently played the US Open but bowed out of the tournament after losing to Alexei Popyrin in four sets.
Novak Djokovic admits that Rafael Nadal has stopped him from winning more titles at the French Open
Rafael Nadal is the King of Clay, for he has 14 French Opens in his trophy cabinet, the most in the history of tennis. Novak Djokovic in an interview admitted that it was Nadal who stopped him from winning more at the Roland Garros.

Every time you step on that court with him, he is the favorite. Even at the Olympics, he had injury problems. I was in better shape, but still, you know, it is the highest mountain to climb. He is the greatest, maybe the only reason why I don’t have more Roland Garros titles.Novak Djokovic told RTS
Nadal, however, did not enjoy a decent campaign this season. At the French Open as well, he lost in the first round after a long time. Just like Djokovic, even Nadal has failed to win a single title on the ATP Tour this year. At the Paris Olympics, he played both singles and doubles.
Though he lost to Djokovic easily in straight sets in the second round, he and compatriot Carlos Alcaraz reached the quarterfinals in doubles. After his comeback from injury, he stated that he would play in the Laver Cup but recently pulled out of it.
