Novak Djokovic is pretty complex. In spite of all his achievements, he continues to be a polarizing figure in the world of tennis, all thanks to the intense fan wars, certain decisions that he has made, his on-court conduct, as well as his controversial statements. But perhaps no one knows him better than his wife, Jelena Djokovic.
Djokovic, during an on-court interview once, heaped a lot of praise on Jelena for her unwavering support despite not enjoying the stress that his demanding career brings, saying, “it can be very stressful to run with the wolf.“
For him, wolves are his “spiritual nature guides“. And so it’s not surprising that his Prime Video documentary’s title is Novak Djokovic: The Wolf in Winter, directed by Emmy-winning filmmaker Jason Hehir. The documentary is scheduled to be released on August 20 this year, and promises to give fans a closer look at his professional and personal life. And ahead of the documentary’s release, Djokovic spent a “wonderful evening” with his family at an event.
Later, the 24-time Grand Slam champion received a heartwarming message from Jelena, who shared quite a few romantic pictures on Instagram. She compared her husband to a few complex literary characters, including Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy from Pride and Prejudice, the timeless classic English novel by Jane Austen whose works continue to charm readers to this day.
My fellow book readers might understand and debate if they want If I were ever to show my perspective of Novak, of the man he is to me, I’d probably have to borrow from the men I’ve loved in books (because Novak is a very complex character of course) Mr Darcy from Pride and Prejudice. Edward Cullen from Twilight. Alexander Barrington from The Bronze Horseman. Rowan Whitethorn from Throne of Glass.

Djokovic, at the moment, is in Cincinnati for the seventh Masters 1000 of the season. He last played here in 2023 and won the title.
Different men, different worlds, different stories…and yet something in each of them reminds me of him. The strength. The complexity. The stubbornness (oh, definitely the stubbornness). The loyalty. The intensity. The way they love. That’s one of the advantages and beauties about knowing someone intimately. The world gets to have its version of him…. And I get to have mine.

Ben Shelton joins Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, and Rafael Nadal after winning the Canadian Open
The Canadian Open was wrapped up on August 13. Ben Shelton ended the event in his favor by defeating compatriot Brandon Nakashima 6-3, 7-6(4).

Shelton, in fact, did not drop a set throughout the tournament. The win made him the fourth man in this century to defend the Canadian Open, joining legends of the game like Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Andy Murray.
For me to play the way that I played this week to go through this draw speaks to the work I have been putting in. It also speaks to my mental toughness, my ability to focus through everything that was going on this week.
Ben Shelton said during the trophy presentation
Shelton improved his head-to-head record over Nakashima to 6-0. Nakashima played his career’s first Masters 1000 final and was chasing his second tour-level title.
Shelton will next be chasing his third Masters 1000 title in Cincinnati. He is a two-time quarterfinalist here, also reaching the stage last year.
Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz won’t be playing as he is recovering from a wrist injury. World No.1 Jannik Sinner, last year’s runner-up, withdrew due to a knee niggle.
