Novak Djokovic has finally made his decision on whether to participate in ATP Finals in Turin or not. On Tuesday (November 5), he took to social media to announce that due to his injury struggles, he won’t be participating in the year-end event.

Last month, Djokovic talked about not coming to Turin because he is not ‘chasing ATP Finals’ or rankings. He had already qualified for the event and has won the tournament a record seven times. Last year, the Serbian won the tournament by defeating current World No.1 Jannik Sinner.

It’s quite an honor to qualify for the @nittoatpfinals in Turin I was really looking forward to being there, but due to ongoing injury I won’t be playing next week. Apologies to those who were planning to see me. Wishing all the players a great tournament. See you soon!

Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, and Taylor Fritz have qualified for the tournament. Djokovic is now expected to play his first match of 2025 at the Australian Open in a bid to win his record 25th singles Major title.

Michael Stich reveals when he would liked to see Novak Djokovic retire

Novak Djokovic remains trophyless on the ATP Tour with an Olympic gold medal in Paris being his only title this season. Former Wimbledon champion Michael Stich thinks Djokovic should have ended his career on a high note after his Olympics win instead of chasing his 25th Grand Slam title.

I would have also liked Novak to call it quits after winning the gold medal. What else could come next? The eleventh Australian Open victory? If that drives him, all good. But at some point, as I felt, you don’t want to lose to the number 30, 40, or 50 in the world and have to work so hard.

Michael Stich said during an interview with Tennis Magazin

Stich, an 18-time ATP title winner, also thinks Rafael Nadal should have called time on his career after winning his 14th French Open in 2022. Nadal has announced his retirement and next month’s Davis Cup will be the final tournament of his career.

Djokovic was last seen in action in the Shanghai Masters final which he lost to Jannik Sinner in straight sets. He could now end the season outside of the top 5 in the ATP rankings for only the second time since 2006.
