Serbian tennis ace Novak Djokovic reignited his beef with the Wimbledon crowd when the 24-time Grand Slam champion wished them a “goooooooood night” after his quarterfinal qualification at the 2024 Championships. As Djokovic beat Rune in the fourth round amid boos from the crowd, the Serbian expressed his displeasure at the “disrespect” shown.

Djokovic also took a direct dig at his booers as he wished them a good night in a sarcastic tone. The 37-year-old then took his revolt against the crowd to social media as well, where he shared a picture of himself, “sliding into the quarters” and wished everyone a good night.

While everyone was anticipating a response from the crowd during Djokovic’s quarterfinal match, it did not happen as Alex de Minaur retired even before the match started. However, the boos came back as soon as Djokovic’s name was brought up during Lorenzo Musetti‘s on-court interview.

As Musetti was informed about his semifinal opponent at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, noticeable groans from the crowd at Court 1 were heard. However, Musetti was quick to point out that the 37-year-old is a legend and “knows better than me the surface and the stadium”.

Lorenzo Musetti excited to play against Novak Djokovic

After indirectly shutting up the crowd for booing Novak Djokovic, Lorenzo Musetti talked about his feelings ahead of a big semifinal, his first-ever Grand Slam semis, against the seven-time Wimbledon Champion. Musetti said that he is excited for the matchup against Djokovic, his toughest challenge on the tour.

However, the Italian clarified that he would be up for the challenge and would give his 100 percent. Musetti said that he is ambitious and will be aiming to pull off a win.

I had the chance to play against him a lot of times so we know each other pretty well. Always been a huge fight so I expect a big, big fight and I think it’s going to be one of the toughest challenge on tour but I’m an ambitious guy and I like to be challenged. I'll try my best, I try to put my 100 per cent effort and let’s see what’s going to happen.

Notably, Musetti became the fourth Italian in history to reach this stage at Wimbledon. He beat American Taylor Fritz 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 to advance to the last four. The 22-year-old will now aim to script history by reaching the final. However, it will be a huge challenge for Musetti.
