Denny Hamlin recently achieved the impressive milestone of over 700 race starts in the NASCAR Cup Series. Many people had already written off Hamlin’s chances to succeed in the sport after being championship-less despite being a veteran. Now, the Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. exposes the underlying truth behind the No.11 driver’s chances to succeed in his remaining career.
Denny Hamlin has achieved over 57 race wins over the years, with his most recent one in Michigan this year. The JGR Veteran couldn’t hold back from making some nostalgic but cocky comments upon his impressive wins.
Notably, only ten drivers in the history of NASCAR have achieved a race win after racing for over 700 races, with Hamlin just joining the list with the likes of Richard Petty, Kevin Harvick, Jeff Gordon, and others.
Despite Denny Hamlin’s most recent victory coming in last week, Dale Earnhardt Jr. reckons that the former doesn’t have many wins left in his bag. Earnhardt Jr. believes that after Hamlin’s win in Michigan, he has proved that he has maybe eight or nine wins more left in his bag.
However, even eight or nine more wins would surpass what many expected, especially considering that legends like Gordon and Harvick were believed to have only six or seven wins left at similar stages in their careers.
Before that race at Michigan, I thought the over-under was six. The line was six wins. He’s maybe moved that line to maybe eight or nine wins. How many years do you think he races? The years don’t matter. The guy may be looking at two years. But if he still wins three races is he gonna really retire if Jeff Gordon won six and Harvick won seven and they were on the higher end of the range.

If history is any indication, Denny Hamlin has only six or seven more lefts in him before imminently quitting the sport. As such, Dale Jr. believes that this is the cold, hard truth that Hamlin must accept at any cost as the end is near. The Hall of Famer refuses to consider the JGR veteran as an exceptional case who could break the previous records and rise to the top.
Right out in front of him is only six more trips to Victory Lane. Damn. That’s a cold hard truth. The end is near, brother.

Denny Hamlin reveals the ‘selfish’ reason behind prioritizing himself over teammates
Denny Hamlin has gracefully taken on the role of being NASCAR’s villain, as he doesn’t mind being hated in the sport. Moreover, Hamlin doesn’t always play the team game, especially when it comes to fighting for the race wins. Now, the JGR Veteran reveals the selfish reason behind prioritizing himself over teamplay and maximizing points for the team.

Hamlin clarified why he made a risky move on 23XI’s Tyler Reddick in Michigan, which ultimately helped him win the race. The 44-year-old explained that he would always selfishly root for himself, even if it was over his teammates. The JGR star insisted that he only has a short window in the sport left before ultimately retiring, which isn’t the case for others on the track.
I’m always going to root for me first selfishly because I’ve got a much shorter window at winning than what he [Tyler Reddick] does and that team [23XI] does.

Regardless of what people think about Hamlin, he is surely one of the many influential personalities in NASCAR. The veteran continues to come up to race weekends and perform to the best of his capabilities. He has proved that age isn’t a problem when it comes to winning races. Hence, the 44-year-old is likely to return to the victory lane in the upcoming races.
