Numbers in for UFC 259: 800,000 global pay-per-view generated as per reports
UFC 259 was hyped to be one of the greatest events in the history of UFC and it sure did live up to that. The numbers speak for it. The UFC 259 pay per view generated enormous revenue from its terrific lineup.
UFC 259 kicked off their event with an amazing lineup hosting 3 title bouts in their main card fights. Adding to that, the 3 fights had something eventful happen. The three fights were, Israel Adesanya vs. Jan Blachowicz, Amanda Nunes vs. Megan Anderson, and Petr Yan vs. Aljamain Sterling.
According to reports produced by Sports Business Journal, the card drew in an estimated 600,000 buys on ESPN+ streaming service, with an additional 200,000 buys outside of the United States, making a total of 800,000. The bout between the current middleweight champion and reigning light heavyweight champion drew the most attention.
Adesanya once again proved that he brings in the big bucks for the promotion. His main event win over Paulo Costa at UFC 253 generated 700,000 worldwide buys.
UFC looking to promote UFC 260 using Jon Jones return storyline
Now that UFC 259 did well in its pay-per-view, the promotion has begun its work for UFC 260. That event’s main card is headlined by heavyweight kingpins, Stipe Miocic and Francis Ngannou. The title is at stake and Francis is looking to seek his revenge against the current heavyweight champion, Miocic.
The UFC also has in mind that the former light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones is moving up a weight class to heavyweight. The superstar will make his comeback against the winner of Stipe and Francis’ fight. Do you think UFC 260 can generate more income than UFC 259?
