After coming up short in the 2024 Fall Classic and losing out on superstar free agent Juan Soto, the New York Yankees have taken an aggressive approach in the offseason. As per new reports, the team is now looking to offload 2-time All-Star Marcus Stroman.

The starting pitcher signed a two-year $37 million deal with the team in January 2024. This move shocked several fans, as he previously had some beef with Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman. The pitcher had openly spoken about the struggles of the Yankees.

Despite that, he joined the team. In the 2024 season, Stroman had an underwhelming season. He went 10-9 in 30 games he played last year. He eventually finished the campaign with a high ERA of 4.31 and picked up just 113 strikeouts.

The 33-year-old pitcher was left out of the New York Yankees‘ ALDS 26-man roster after posting an ERA of 5.70 since the start of June. While he was re-added to the roster as the team advanced to the ALCS, he did not make any appearance in the postseason.

With the signing of Max Fried on an 8-year $218 million deal, questions were raised regarding the future of Stroman. As per Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Yankees are “actively trying to deal” Marcus Stroman and his $18 million salary.

As per Nightengale, the Bronx Bombers are now seeking a left-handed reliever and an infielder. They have been reported to have had free-agent pitcher Andrew Chafin and infielder Brendan Rodgers.
