Madison Square Garden has long been one of the world’s most influential sports venues, hosting historic events in boxing, basketball, wrestling, and mixed martial arts. Its reputation as a global arena elevated the stakes for UFC 322. The brawl inside the building ignited significant tension during the event. The situation escalated to the point where NYC Mayor Eric Adams called for strict action.
UFC 322 was otherwise a significant success for the promotion, culminating in Islam Makhachev becoming the new welterweight champion. The card delivered high viewership and strong attendance figures at MSG. However, during the preliminary bouts, Dillon Danis, who is known for his controversial online behavior, became involved in a physical confrontation with members of Makhachev’s team.
Magomed “Chanco” Zaynukov and Abubakar Nurmagomedov emerged as the prominent members of Makhachev’s camp involved in the brawl. UFC executives and security separated them once the altercation intensified. Their involvement linked the confrontation directly to the champion’s entourage. The escalating conduct ultimately triggered the response later addressed by Mayor Adams.
These assaults at MSG are completely unacceptable. The NYPD is conducting a full investigation and everyone responsible will be held accountable.

American Kickboxing Academy head coach Javier Mendez later identified the cause of the conflict as Danis circulating explicit AI-generated videos targeting Makhachev and manager Ali Abdelaziz. The content intensified existing friction around the event. Zaynukov also indicated that Danis had been trolling the team through social media posts before UFC 322.
The UFC 322 incident was not unprecedented in UFC history, as the UFC 229 post-fight brawl also led to significant penalties. Khabib Nurmagomedov was fined $500,000 and suspended for nine months for jumping the cage. Conor McGregor received a six-month suspension and a $50,000 fine from the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The event remains one of the most heavily sanctioned moments in MMA.
Zaynukov recently secured his UFC contract after an impressive victory over Lucas Caldas on Dana White’s Contender Series Week 9. His rapid rise placed him in the spotlight heading into UFC 322. The brawl has now drawn additional attention to his name beyond his debut performance. Its aftermath may influence the early trajectory of his UFC career.

Dillon Danis’ social media presence has long placed him at odds with many in the combat sports community. His online attacks toward Dagestani fighters have continued since Conor McGregor’s rivalry with Khabib Nurmagomedov. This history shaped how fans interpreted his involvement in the UFC 322 incident. Many viewed it as an extension of years of hostility.

Fans across platforms reacted strongly to Eric Adams’ announcement of punishment for those involved in the UFC 322 brawl. A large number argued that Danis’ behavior escalated tensions and believed consequences were overdue. Others focused on Makhachev’s team’s involvement, insisting that both sides were responsible. The mayor’s statement fueled debate over how far the investigation would reach.
Dana white clearly didn’t give two shits about his image anymore. The government has to step in before he does for something that happened at HIS event. Just leave bro we don’t need you anymore.
