Sunday was an eventful day for Tyreek Hill. The wide receiver was arrested hours before kickoff between the Miami Dolphins and the Jacksonville Jaguars. The videos and photos of his arrest sent shockwaves amongst fans and his teammates who were left baffled at how the wideout was treated over an alleged speeding violation.
Odell Beckham Jr. was one of several individuals watching Tyreek Hill be detained on Sunday morning. The newest member of the Miami Dolphins was left wondering “What the f*** happened?” In a video obtained by TMZ Sports, as Hill was handcuffed, his teammates Calais Campbell and Odell Beckham Jr. can be seen attempting to comprehend what was happening.
OBJ was attempting to diffuse the situation along with defensive lineman Calais Campbell. The wideout asked Campbell what the commotion was all about and at that point the lineman informed him that Hill was speeding.
In the video, OBJ can be heard responding with “Ask them if they know what a 720S is. The b**** go fast.” For a man whose nickname is ‘Cheetah,’ it should not be surprising that Hill owns one of the fastest cars, the McLaren 720S.
Tyreek Hill was released from custody shortly after
Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus was present at the scene attempting to speak to the police and sort the situation out. After a while, the wide receiver was released from custody. Tyreek Hill channeled the frustration from the pre-game situation into the game against the Jaguars. He ended the night with 130 yards and a touchdown.
His touchdown celebration was the highlight of the night. It was a fitting response to the officers who arrested him pre-game as he mimicked being cuffed. A lot remains unknown about Hill’s arrest at the moment. The Miami-Dade County Police Department has placed one of the officers involved in arresting Hill on administrative leave and an internal investigation has been opened to review the officers’ actions.
The request to make public the bodycam footage of the police officers’ is gathering traction. Since the matter is under internal review, a detailed statement hasn’t been issued by the police at this point. Following the game, Tyreek Hill chose not to comment on the situation. Until the internal probe concludes, a lot of questions will continue to remain unanswered.
