NFL wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has been named as a defendant in a sexual assault lawsuit filed in the Northern District of California. The new information has added a new layer of controversy to the ongoing legal case involving music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.

The lawsuit also names popular content creator Druski aka Drew Desbordes and singer Jaguar Wright as defendants. However, Odell Beckham Jr’s involvement has drawn the most public attention.

The plaintiff Ashley Parham alleges that she was drugged, kidnapped, and sexually assaulted in March 2018. According to the court documents, Parham claims she was attacked at a gathering in Orinda, California, and was later sexually assaulted with a TV remote control. Parham has filed the lawsuit seeking $50 million in damages and has requested a jury trial.

P Diddy is already facing multiple legal challenges. The Federal charges include racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. The music mogul has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is set to face trial on May 5, 2025.

In the meantime, the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) is closely monitoring the situation, as Beckham remains unsigned for the upcoming season. Legal analysts believe that the inclusion of Beckham Jr. in the lawsuit could significantly impact his career.

The league has previously taken disciplinary action against players involved in criminal investigations. Beckham’s name being tied to such a high-profile case could raise questions about his future in the league.

A former boyfriend of Kim Kardashian, Beckham Jr. has not publicly responded to the allegations as of now. His legal team has also remained silent on the matter. Similarly, Diddy, Druski, and Wright have also not issued any public statements regarding their inclusion in the lawsuit.

The NFLPA could implement a suspension on Odell Beckham Jr. similar to the 2010 Ben Roethlisberger

As Odell Beckham Jr. faces serious allegations, there is growing discussion about whether the NFL could suspend him even if no criminal charges are filed. A similar situation happened in 2010 with former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. This could now serve as a precedent in Beckham’s case.

In 2009, Roethlisberger was accused of sexual assault by a woman in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, during a celebrity golf tournament. Although no criminal charges were filed, a civil lawsuit was brought against him.

Less than a year later, another woman in Georgia accused Roethlisberger of sexual assault at a nightclub. Once again, no criminal charges were filed, but the NFL still suspended him for six games, later reduced to four. This was the first time in NFL history that a player was suspended under the personal conduct policy without being formally charged with a crime.

Given Beckham’s name has now surfaced in a high-profile sexual assault case, the NFL may revisit Roethlisberger’s precedent. If the league determines that Beckham’s involvement has damaged the NFL’s reputation, they could suspend him, regardless of the legal outcome.
