Taylor Swift once again became the target of environmental activists over her private jet, as two oil activists attacked a jet with a jet spray. Unfortunately, they had the wrong info about the plane and the one they attacked wasn’t Swift’s.
The 14-time Grammy winner is currently having a show of her life with Royalties, her friends, families, and potential future in-laws, in London for the latest leg of her prominent Eras Tour. As one of the biggest stars in the world, Swift majorly contributes to the economy of not just America but also the places where she performs her magical concerts.
However, she recently became the target of climate protestors when the report on Swift’s 2023 trips through her private jet emitted 1,200 tons of carbon dioxide. And recently, the protestors targetted her once again, as two of them snuck into the Stansted Airport to attack her jet with spray paint, Thursday morning.
An Environmental group, Just Stop Oil recorded a whole video of the incident, where they first cut through the airport’s perimeter fence and then, went on to damage two private jets by covering them with orange paint. The authorities have identified both women and arrested them for criminal damage and interference with national infrastructure.
Taylor Swift’s global influence meets criticism over climate change
Although Swift’s jet was spared, the activities appeared to have sent the image they intended for. They demand one of the biggest global stars to take responsibility for her lack of commitment to environmental impact.
Critics believe that given the “Lover” singer’s global influence with her music and activism, she can majorly contribute to the amelioration of the environment. Instead, she has gained the unofficial title of one of the biggest polluters from the activists and critics.
This London incident reflects a growing vexation towards Swift’s lack of efforts in minimizing her environmental footprint. The climate activities contend, as just Swift’s music is an inspiration for millions, her commitment to environmental responsibility and leadership should be taken into serious consideration.
