After the demise of OJ Simpson, multiple layers of his debt have unfolded in the public eye, which needs to be settled promptly, or else it will loom large on his estate. This daunting task of settling his debts and managing all his financial affairs has fallen upon the shoulders of his real estate executor.
Malcolm LaVergne, the late athlete’s long-term lawyer, has turned into his estate executor since his death earlier this year in April. He recently opened up to TMZ about the messy debts he’s trying to settle but his efforts are reportedly being met with “strong resistance.”
Since Simpson was indebted with millions of dollars, LaVergne was compelled to use one of his real estate properties to settle the debts, which is located in Las Vegas. TMZ reported, that LaVergne is “trying to bring in more than $269,000 from one of OJ’s homes, and might have to go through Simpson’s son, Justin, to get it.”
Because it was Justin who helped the late NFL star purchase his “forever” house in Las Vegas, just a few years ago. The whole property was worth around $159,000 at the time of its purchase and now might have crossed another $100,000 as LaVergne estimated.
Malcolm LaVergne faces challenges in managing OJ Simpson’s estate
Getting the ‘forever’ home wasn’t the first choice of LaVergne as he revealed searching for multiple ways to pay the creditors, but his efforts were resisted strongly. He was trying to collect and liquidate his late client’s property and was deliberately being opposed.

But that isn’t the only thing the late running back’s executor found odd. He revealed strange incidents while managing the financial affairs where many of Simpson’s personal belongings went missing, mainly his Pro Football Hall of Fame ring and a fancy Rolex– which LaVergne was trying to retrieve after his demise.

It remains a question to wonder whether it was Simpson’s family who were resisting LaVergne to liquate his properties. LaVergne shared moving forward with a stricter approach to everyone, including his family. Additionally, to get things sorted at the earliest, he has also decided to organize an auction to sell the late athlete’s belongings and raise money for the estate from it.
