Heavyweights Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua squared off last night for the IBF heavyweight title inside the Wembley stadium. In front of a whopping 96,000 crowd, Dubois knocked out AJ in the fifth round. It was a truly remarkable achievement for Dubois after overcoming multiple career losses. After his win, one clip from Dubois’ fight against Oleksandr Usyk has resurfaced on the internet.
Usyk and Dubois fought each other last year in August, and the unified heavyweight championships were on the line. The Ukrainian won the fight via KO in the ninth round. However, the fight had some controversial moments, with a painful body punch ruled below the waste. In the video that has gone viral, Usyk can be heard motivating Dubois after the fight.

Dubois seemed to have taken the chat seriously, as evidenced by his three knockout victories since then. Nevertheless, his recent victory over AJ was incredible. He overpowered the former heavyweight champion and denied him any chance to recover. Joshua, by surprise, accepted the setback with dignity and denied retirement rumors.
Referring back to the viral Usyk and Dubois video, the Brit had previously accused Usyk of cheating. During the fifth round of the fight, Usyk collapsed to the ground after allegedly receiving a low blow. This moment altered the fight’s momentum and divided boxing fans based on their differing viewpoints. Nevertheless, a rematch could happen as soon as next year if things go to plan.

The fight between Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua attracted a variety of celebrities amongst the massive crowd. Conor McGregor, Terence Crawford, and Tyson Fury are some of the biggest combat sports athletes to attend the event. Fury had a fun time at Wembley as he celebrated AJ’s loss and cheered for Dubois.
Similarly, the reigning WBC champion, Oleksandr Usyk, was also there in the crowd. He was shocked to see his former opponent, Joshua, lose the title fight.
After the win, Dubois gave a powerful post-fight interview thanking the fans, family, and his team. The boxer then called out Usyk for a rematch.

Usyk is currently slated for his heavyweight title rematch against Tyson Fury. The fight will take place this December at the Kingdom Arena, Saudi Arabia. The hype around the fight is huge as a result the champion is currently focused on his preparation. As a result, when asked about the Dubois’ rematch, the Ukrainian fighter decided not to comment much.
