Oleksandr Usyk has cemented his status as the top heavyweight boxer of this era. The Ukrainian secured this title following his victory over Tyson Fury. Usyk went blow for blow and dominated the later rounds to achieve a split-decision victory over Fury. As such, Usyk became the first undisputed heavyweight champion in the last 24 years.

Even Ring Magazine recognized his talent by ranking him as the best pound-for-pound boxer, placing him at the top of their list. Now, Usyk has uniquely compared his opponents. This is something the undefeated champion did when he was a guest on the 3 Knockdown Rules podcast. Usyk detailed the distinctions between Anthony Joshua and Fury.

Anthony Joshua is classic boxing. Greedy Belly my friend Tyson Fury. Listen, it’s like still water and sparkling. Still water is Anthony Joshua, sparkling water is Tyson Fury.

Even though Joshua usually showed a composed and strategic attitude, it failed to lead to wins against Usyk in their two fights. Hence, Usyk defeated Joshua on two separate occasions. Both times, Usyk outclassed Joshua, remains well-versed in his fighting style, and calls it classic boxing.

Subsequently, his remarks about Fury reflected on his loud and flamboyant nature, which became clear leading up to the match as well. Fury essentially jeered at Usyk while they were in the ring. In the end, Usyk prevailed. Currently, Fury and Usyk are scheduled to face each other in a rematch on December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Oleksandr Usyk plans to move down to cruiserweight

After defeating Fury, numerous people in the boxing community believed Usyk should hang up his gloves. This is because they believe he has reached all the goals a boxer aspires to. However, Usyk is not only returning to face Fury again but also expressing a desire to return to the cruiserweight category.
