When the two titans of the heavyweight division meet for the first time on May 18, it’s safe to say that Tyson Fury will be one tough nut to crack for Oleksandr Usyk. This is because Fury has remained undefeated and has fought the best boxers in the division across his illustrious career. However, Usyk is also a formidable foe and is a two-time and two-weight world champion and Olympic medalist. Furthermore, the Ukrainian appears to be giving it all in preparing for the upcoming fight.
Fury has the advantage of size and reach and is known for his ability to maneuver effortlessly inside the ring. Subsequently, Usyk is also known for his footwork and even received the nickname ‘The Cat’. His ability to outbox a world champion was seen when he defeated Anthony Joshua twice. As such, this time The Cat is preparing to defeat Fury by fighting two opponents at once during his sparring sessions.

This is quite an interesting approach, and the same tactic has been used by several other fighters. Furthermore, in the video posted on Oleksandr Usyk’s social media account, he is seen boxing with two opponents and attempting to respond to each of them.
In one instance, he throws a double punch that lands on both of his opponents simultaneously. Usyk’s footwork and reflexes were impressive since he seemed very relaxed inside the ring. Although the sparring session wasn’t too intense, it was still great cardio for the champion.

Usyk has been leaving no stone unturned during his preparation and sparring sessions. Since people believe Fury can win because of his size, Usyk has been attempting to neutralize that advantage. He did this by bringing in Sanel Hasanovic, who is just one inch shorter than Fury.

The pro boxer may not be Fury’s equal in terms of experience or boxing skills and knowledge. However, he has helped Usyk adjust and get used to fighting an opponent who has an advantage. Hence, Usyk’s confidence ahead of the fight is also reflected in the preparations that he has been undergoing.
His sparring partner, Hasanovic, stated that he believes that Usyk can be the first person to defeat Tyson Fury. This suggests that The Cat did not have a tough time against his tall sparring partner. Furthermore, The Gypsy King has also been employing a similar tactic by bringing in Jai Opetia and Moses Itauma as his sparring partners.
