Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury was surely a fight that lived up to its hype. The undisputed heavyweight fight occurred on May 18. The fight was competitive, but Usyk was able to emerge victorious. However, it is being reported that he sustained an injury to his jaw.

The fight went the distance and ended with Usyk winning via split decision. In the beginning, Fury appeared quite confident as he maneuvered across the ring. Subsequently, Usyk kept relentlessly chasing after him with his attacks. Usyk pursued this approach to make up for the size disadvantage by resorting to in-fighting. During this, Fury managed to land several counterpunches and jabs since Usyk kept approaching him. Hence, the Ukrainian broke his jaw because of all of this damage.

Within hours of Usyk’s historic victory, his 2012 Olympian teammate Denys Berinchyk won the vacant WBO lightweight title with a split decision over Emanuel Navarrete. The 12-round bout took place in San Diego, California.

The fight between Berinchyk and Navarrete took place at a relatively slow pace compared to Fury vs. Usyk. Furthermore, both boxers kept missing a lot of shots throughout the fight. In the end, Berinchyk was able to extend his professional record to 19-0 with the win.
