According to reports, Oleksandr Usyk’s camp has expressed worries about the ring canvas ahead of his clash with Tyson Fury. Their concerns even caused them to file a formal complaint before the undisputed heavyweight fight. The bout is set to happen at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on May 18. It’s the first 12-round heavyweight undisputed fight in the four-belt era of boxing.
In addition, it has been 25 years since the last undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, Lennox Lewis, achieved the title. Currently, Usyk holds the WBA, WBO, and IBF belts that he acquired from Anthony Joshua. Fury holds the WBC belt and the title of lineal heavyweight champion. Subsequently, Sky Sports News recently reported that members of Usyk’s camp voiced their dissatisfaction during the open workout and filed a formal complaint, which focused on the seam connecting the canvas sections.

The two champions trained on the same canvas set that will be used in the ring for their fight. After this, Team Usyk raised concerns because the canvas could cause the fighters to trip during the match. However, this same type of canvas has been used in recent heavyweight fights in Saudi Arabia and the UK, including fights where Oleksandr Usyk won.
In addition, Usyk vs. Fury was originally scheduled to take place in December of last year. It didn’t happen because Fury’s fight against Francis Ngannou forced the fight to be put on hold for two months. Then Fury sustained an injury during a training camp in February, causing the fight to be postponed for another three months.
Tyson Fury shoves Oleksandr Usyk during weigh-ins
During their first face-off before the fight got canceled, Fury and Usyk had an intense face-off. During this, Fury attempted to push back Usyk with his head, but the Ukrainian boxer did not back down. However, at the final press conference, Fury chose not to glance toward Usyk as part of his mental game.

Subsequently, this changed during the official weigh-ins for the fight, which ended up being more heated than their first faceoff. Fury again tried to intimidate Usyk with his size by attempting to push him back with his head. After this, the Gypsy King shoved his opponent and hurled insults at him.
The comparison between Fury’s demeanors over the past two days reflects how he has gotten fired up for the fight. Furthermore, during the weigh-ins for their fight, Tyson Fury weighed 262 lbs, while his opponent Usyk weighed in at 223 lbs.
