Olivier Giroud is a true French icon. The 6’3″ striker has been a constant presence up front for Les Bleus. After making his first appearance for the national team back in 2011, the player hasn’t looked back ever since. Now, aged 37 and having a World Cup to his name, France’s beloved No.9 is calling time on an enviable career.

Giroud recently stated that the upcoming European Championship in Germany will be his last for Les Bleus. A World Cup winner already, saying goodbye to the international stage with a European trophy will be the perfect farewell for the star. Despite age being the prominent factor, Giroud has listed something else as the reason for his departure.

As per reports, the Frenchman is MLS bound, having come to a verbal agreement with LAFC back in March. Giroud’s contract with his new club runs until December 2025 and he will join the likes of international teammate Hugo Lloris and Cristian Olivera. The No.9 leaves Milan as a free agent after running down his contract with the Rossoneri.

His deal with LAFC also includes an option to extend for one more year. Despite the cub releasing pictures of Giroud signing the contract and donning the club’s official jersey, he will not be available for selection until the end of the Euros in July.

Giroud’s arrival means only one thing for LAFC – goals. The forward has managed to score an impressive 285 goals from 717 club appearances.
