On the biggest night of his footballing career, offensive tackle Olu Fashanu was surrounded by the people who mean the most to him. Fashanu’s family and friends erupted to loud cheers after learning that the New York Jets drafted him with the 11th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. But during the celebrations, netizens caught a bizarre moment between the OT and his family members.

The New York Jets called Olu Fashanu to let him know he will be protecting their blind side in the future. As soon as he got off the call, he turned to his mother and uttered the words New York Jets, leading to whole room to burst into cheers. However, as he hugged his mother, his girlfriend tried to congratulate him by tapping his leg. But it seems Fashanu kept ignoring her as he kept getting hugs from his mother.

Mock draft’s heading into this 2024 NFL Draft projected the Penn State standout heading to teams drafting from 10th to 15th. Even though the Jets traded down from 10th, they got back up after seeing two tackles go early. After all, getting a long-term future at the tackle spot was their main focus.

They needed to get Fashanu on board, even though they have Tyron Smith on the roster. However, the former All-Pro tackle is on a 1-year contract and has his injury history to consider as well. Eventually, Olu Fashanu will be protecting the blindside of 4-time MVP Aaron Rodgers.
