Tokyo Olympics: Aline Rotter Focken from Germany secures Gold Medal in women’s 76 Kg Freestyle wrestling

The day 10th of the Tokyo Olympics marked the matches of -76 Kg weight category of women’s freestyle wrestling. All of the matches of wrestling are being held at Makuhari Messe and Germany’s Aline Rotter Focken rose to the occasion and clinched Gold Medal in the 76 Kg category of women’s freestyle wrestling.

Focken started her medal run by fighting against Vasilisa Marzaliuk from Belarus. Marzaliuk presented her with a real tough challenge but in the end, Aline Rotter Focken won the fight by 2-1 and advanced to the ¼ finals.

She faced the Chinese opponent Zhou Qian in her next fight and defeated her by 8-3. In the semi-final fight, she faced a very tough opponent, Hiroe Minagwana from Japan, but she defeated her as well by 3-1 and moved to the finals.

Aline Rotter Focken faced Adeline Gray from the United States in the final fight and she dominated her to win the fight by 7-3 and add one more Gold Medal to Germany’s medal tally at Tokyo Olympics 2020.

The United States wrestler, Adeline Gray also started her campaign at the 76 Kg women’s Freestyle wrestling in a dominating form. She defeated Zaineb Sghaier from Tunisia in the first fight by 8-0 and Yasemin Adar from Turkey in her next fight by 6-4.

Gray faced a tough opponent in the semi-finals in the form of Aiperi Medet Kyzy from Kyrgyzstan by 3-2 and moved to the finals to face Focken. Although, she fell short in front of Aline Rotter Focken, but she gave her a tough challenge and won Silver Medal for the United States in the 76 kg women’s freestyle wrestling.

The Chinese wrestler Zhou Qian defeated Vasilisa Marzaliuk from Belarus in the repechage 2 to fight for the Bronze Medal against Hiroe Minagawa from Japan and defeated her by 2-0 and won Bronze Medal for China.

Yasemin Adar from Turkey defeated the Tunisian wrestler Zaineb Sghaier by 2-0 in the repechage 2 and faced Aiperi Medet Kyzy from Kyrgyzstan in the Bronze Medal match. She defeated her by 4-0 and won Bronze Medal for Turkey in women’s 76 kg freestyle wrestling.
