Novak Djokovic has declared that the gold medal he won in the Paris Olympics was for him and everyone in Serbia who believed in him. A couple of days after winning the coveted medal, he took to his X account to dedicate his victory to the people of his country.

Djokovic beat Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz in the final on Court Philippe-Chatrier 7-6(3), 7-6(2) to add the gold medal for the first time to his trophy cabinet. It made the Serb the only third male and fifth overall tennis player to accomplish the career Golden Slam.

I could never give up on the dream of winning this gold medal, just as the people of Serbia have never given up on me. Together, we believed in the impossible. While I may be the one holding this medal, I want every Serbian to know that it belongs to all of us.

Before the final on August 4, Djokovic never reached the summit clash in the four Olympics he previously featured in. He bagged his bronze medal on his debut at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and was restricted to just the semifinals in his next three attempts.

Representing our nation is the greatest honor in the world. This medal, these moments, this life—none of it would have been possible without your unwavering support. This is because of you. This is for you.

Goran Ivanisevic thinks Novak Djokovic will play in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics

Novak Djokovic will be 41 in 2028. The way he has been playing, if he remains fit and doesn’t face any problems with his form, then he may appear in his sixth Olympics in Los Angeles. His former coach, Goran Ivanisevic is confident of seeing the 37-year-old play another Olympics.

Considering how crazy he is, it wouldn’t surprise me to see him in Los Angeles as well.
Goran Ivanisevic told Tennis Majors

The Croatian coach also thinks Djokovic will enter the US Open as the favorite to win. If the Serbian legend wins his fifth Flushing Meadows title, he will surpass Margaret Court to become the player with the most Grand Slam titles (male or female) with 25 of them. The US Open is scheduled to get underway on August 19.
