Olympic Games: Break-dancing becomes official Olympic Sport; Will debut in 2024

Break-Dancing was official included as an Olympic Sport on Monday along with skateboarding, sport climbing and surfing. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) took the decision on Monday to include the break-dancing at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games in order to encourage younger audiences to watch the sport and hence the Olympic Games.
The latter three sports will be included in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games which were postponed to 2021. But break-dancing which will be called ‘breaking’ will debut in 2024.
Break-dancing included after trials

The decision to include break-dancing as an Olympic Sport is not one which came about all of a sudden but the same has been in the works. It was initially proposed during the 2018 Youth Olympics which were held in Buenos Aires. The sport then passed various voting processes in 2019 before finally being approved.
At the Paris Games, breaking will be held at a separate downtown venue where sport climbing will also be held. Surfing on the other hand will be held in the Pacific Ocean in Tahiti and not in France.
