After the event management and ticketing website Eventbrite removed Riley Gaines‘ promotion for a college event, they had been slammed by many. Governor of Virginia state, Glenn Youngkin has joined the others in this and fired back at them.

Gaines has seen her name rise across the US this year. The former NCAA swimmer has embarked on a fight to ensure women’s safety. She has publicly called for the ban of trans athletes competing against women in the sporting category.

The 23-year-old was expected to deliver a speech at the University of California regarding women’s safety. However, Eventbrite would remove her promotion. This move, along with the celebration of Hamas, has not gone down well for many.

Youngkin was also expected to be a part of the program of Gaines. The governor now has now blasted them for this move. The company had been under the wrath of fans after they silently deleted their listing regarding Hamas.

Let’s just be clear that when a company decides it’s gonna make statements on political and social issues, they have to live with the consequences... Eventbrite continues to carry events around Hamas is unbelievable. But then, on top of that, to proactively terminate an agreement with Riley is beyond belief.

Glenn Youngkin urges for boycott of Eventbrite

The issue regarding the involvement of trans athletes in the women’s category has become a debatable topic this year. The fight shown by Riley Gaines and others has led to several states joining them in their fight.

To promote this even further, Gaines has been seen campaigning across the countries, while reaching colleges. The move by Eventbrite to remove her promotion has led Governor Glenn Youngkin to urge people to boycott the company.

While claiming that he has asked his committee to stop using Eventbrite, he urged the listeners to follow the same before adding:

Just stop using them. That’s what has to happen to companies that take these kinds of stances.

Another major reason the event management company is facing a severe backlash is its silence on the matter. Despite several outlets reaching out to them, they have refused to comment on the matter.

The company, though did send an email to Gaines, which she later revealed on her X account. The activist claimed that her event was removed for discrimination. Further developments regarding this matter are likely to come up in the upcoming days.
