Mikaela Shiffrin, from the United States, is a champion skier who holds the record for the most wins in World Cup alpine skiing, for both men and women. Widely regarded as one of the top alpine skiers ever, she has two Olympic Gold Medals to her name. Shiffrin has also clinched the Overall World Cup title five times, ruled the slalom world championships four times, and has secured the World Cup discipline title for slalom seven times.

By the age of 18 years and 345 days, she became the youngest-ever Olympic champion in slalom. On February 16, 2023, Shiffrin won her seventh gold at the Alpine World Championships, and with a total of 14 medals from 16 races in her career, she is the most decorated skier of the modern era. Time magazine listed her as one of the most influential people in 2023. She first joined the World Cup on March 11, 2011, in the Czech Republic.

Not long after she turned 16, she won the slalom race at the US National Championships. She was the youngest American ever to win this title. Shiffrin has celebrated victory in 91 World Cup races, surpassing Ingemar Stenmark’s record, including a record-breaking 53 slalom wins and 21 in giant slalom – the most for any woman. She’s also the only skier to win 15 races within a single calendar year, setting the record in 2018 by winning the last slalom of the season in Semmering and topping Marcel Hirscher’s record.

In 2019, she broke yet another barrier by securing wins in 17 World Cup races in a single season, shattering Vreni Schneider’s 30-year-old record of 14. Her domination continued as she claimed her fourth straight world championship win in the same event in 2019. At the Cortina 2021 World Championships, she made history by being the first to win gold medals at five consecutive World Championships. And by earning gold in the giant slalom at Courchevel-Meribel in 2023, she extended her amazing streak to six straight wins.
