Olivia Dunne is currently of the social media sensations in the United States. The Louisiana State University gymnast boasts a massive following of 6.8 million followers on TikTok and 2 million followers on Instagram. With the NACC allowing college athletes to profit from their image rights, Livvy profited the most. This lets several fans and followers gush over Livvy’s style and grace which has now sensationalized social media.

Owing to the magnanimity of Olivia Dunne’s social media presence, the fans were responsible for causing such a frenzy at sports venues, security is being tightened for the LSU and other gymnastics teams participating. A few weeks back, Dunne had to request her fans to behave respectfully with other gymnasts. This came to light when Utah athlete was disrespected and treated rudely by Olivia Dunne’s fans.

As much as social media can bring fame and luck to people, it does have its consequences.

Olivia Dunne has scores of fans all over the United States, making her the most popular college athlete in the country. Her role as a social media influencer earns her seven-figure payments and millions of loving fans who can’t wait to catch a glimpse of their favorite superstar. However, all of these do come at a cost.

A high percentage of Olivia Dunne’s fandom is mostly teenage boys or young college-going adults. These fans crowd in large numbers in whichever venue where Livvy is performing. This causes much frenzy and rushes within the crowd, often causing inconveniences for the other people involved.

In one incident, a certain section of Olivia Dunne’s fans has been criticized for being rude and disrespectful to Utah athlete Jillian Hoffman. The fans kept mocking and disrespecting her while asking for a photograph and called her ‘Livvy 2.0.’ This followed Dunne issuing a public request for her fans to maintain decency and respect for every gymnast participating.

Furthermore, former Olympic athlete Samantha Peszek has raised awareness about this issue, calling it a scary and disturbing experience.

This was further added on by American sports commentator Kathy Johnson Clarke who felt that teenage boys should take a lesson on behaving decently at public gatherings.

Sports journalist Josh Furlong reported that during LSU’s match at Utah, Livvy and her teammates were surrounded by a hoard of teenage boys in front of the team bus. This called for cops to bring in extra protection for the team to avoid running into this group.

LSU coach Jay Clarke emphasized increasing the security around perimeters to ensure the team’s safety. Although, in the last meet against Kentucky, a large number of teenage boys turned out to see Livvy, the security of the team was not compromised in any manner.
